BetaList alternatives: where to find early adopters and beta users

By Flip, founder of FirstUsers.club · Updated October 20, 2026

The short answer

BetaList no longer has a free submission: every listing is paid (refunded if you are not selected), and it brings visibility to early adopters rather than a set number of users. If you want guaranteed beta users, FirstUsers.club gives at least 25 verified signups with answers to your question for $10. For free visibility, try Uneed’s free queue, Peerlist Launchpad and Reddit communities like r/alphaandbetausers.

What changed at BetaList

BetaList is a long-running site where early adopters discover pre-launch and recently launched startups. Its FAQ now says all submissions are paid; if your startup is not selected, the fee is refunded automatically. Review time depends on the plan you pick, and you need your own domain (free hosting subdomains and direct app store links are not accepted).

It is still a solid way to grow a waitlist when you have a strong landing page. But a listing gives you visibility, not users: how many people sign up depends on your page and on that week’s other startups.

FirstUsers.club: beta users who actually sign up

Instead of listing your product and hoping, FirstUsers.club puts you in a 5-week cohort of 30 builders who sign up for each other’s products. You sign up for 5 members’ products a week; in your launch week, at least 25 members sign up for yours through tracked links and answer the question you choose, like “What almost stopped you from signing up?”

It works for websites, iPhone and Android apps and Chrome extensions: apps go to members who said they can test on that device. And if you are still waiting for your cohort, members can sign up early from the bonus board, so beta feedback can start before your week.

Free alternatives

  • Uneed: free daily launches with a waiting line (30 days to 5 months), or $14.99 to fast-track. A good free listing with a launch-day leaderboard.
  • Peerlist Launchpad: free weekly launches every Monday for Peerlist members, with winners featured in the newsletter.
  • Reddit: r/alphaandbetausers and r/SideProject exist for exactly this. Ask a specific question and follow each subreddit’s rules.
  • Indie Hackers: a product profile and posts in a founder community that values build-in-public updates.

Paid alternatives

Beta-testing marketplaces recruit testers for you. BetaTesting’s self-serve credits cost about $23–$39 per tester (October 2026), and Userbrain lists panel testers at about $45 each. They are the fastest way to reach a screened audience, and cost more per person than a builders’ club. Our UserTesting alternatives page compares them.
